Sadrist MP calls to cancel dual citizenship in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Ali al-Timimi, of al-Ahrar bloc within the Sadr Trend, called to cancel the dual citizenship in Iraq because it is considered as a violation to the constitution.

He stated in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com “We call to cancel the dual citizenship In Iraq because it is violating the constitution and encourages the corruption.

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi constitution states that the Iraqi officials must not have dual citizenship regardless their posts.

Many Iraqi officials have foreign citizenships in addition to their Iraqi ones.
