Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Baha al-Din al-Safi, criticized the statements launched by the Iraqiya Slate‘s member, Ahmed al-Alwani, against Shiite.

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “It is shameful to hear such phrases from Alwani which are not novel since he had previous stances in this regard.”

“He attempts to attract the masses through agitating the sectarian affiliations,” he added.

“We admonish some clergymen who headed the demonstrations that were sectarian,” he stressed, noting that “We hope all sides to seek moderation in their behaviors and to be wise.”

Earlier, a Parliamentary Committee was formed to investigate the statements of MP, Ahmed Alwani, of the Iraqiya Slate in which he accused the Shiite in Iraq as being “Agents and pigs.”

A source from the Iraqi National Alliance stated to IraqiNews.com “The committee was formed to make sure of Alwani’s statements during an interview with Baghdad Satellite Channel where he described Shiite as agents of Iran and they are pigs and coward.”

“If Alwani’s statement were proved, he will be dismissed from the parliament and his membership will be canceled according to Article 7 of the constitution,” he added.

“The Committee will address the Communication and Media Commission and the mentioned Channel to investigate the statements,” he continued.

“The Committee involved the head of the INA, Ibraheem al-Jaafary, the head of the Citizen bloc, Baqir Jabur al-Zubaidi, and the head of the State of Law Coalition bloc, Khalid al-Atiya as well as the head of the Iraqiya Slate bloc, Salman al-Jumaili, in addition to MP, Ahmed al-Msari and Haider al-Mulla,” he concluded.
