SLC MP demands Esawi to resign

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Ali al-Shalah, of the State of Law Coalition demanded the Minister of Finance, Rafi al-Esawi, to “resign his position in case he did not apologize for his sectarian statements.”

Shalah reported in statement to IraqiNews.com ”The recent statements of Esawi do not suit his position,” demanding him for an apology and “if he insisted on this sectarian stance, he should resign his post because it dishonors us to have such sectarian minister in our state.”

”Although Esawi apologized to the Prime Minister by a phone call, yet, he repeated his offensive statements in a press conference,” the statement added.

Shalah pointed out that ”Esawi does not act like a minister of the State and his bodyguards are not an exception, so, he should respect the law and Iraqi judiciary,” explaining that ”The arrest warrants were issued against Esawi bodyguards on the background of the confessions which were made by Hashimi’s gang.” \
