 Sweden contributes $12 mln to support IDP in Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Wednesday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari stated, that the Iraqi forces achieved a notable progress in its war against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), while the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström announced an additional USD 12 million in humanitarian support to Iraq.

Jaafari said in a press statement at the meeting of the international Coalition against ISIS and followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Iraqi Armed Forces is achieving a notable progress in its war against ISIS terrorist gangs,” indicating that, “The international community should support Iraq to extend security and stability.”

Jaafari added regarding the Iraqi-Swedish relations, “We need to exercise more efforts to reinforce the parliamentary relations between the two countries,” pointing out that, “The work of the Iraqi-Swedish committee have to be activated.”

Meanwhile, Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström said, “Today, I am announcing an additional USD 12 million in humanitarian support to Iraq, to complement our recent USD 4 million contribution to the UNDP Stabilization Fund and our military training component in northern Iraq.”
