Turkmen Front calls to ensure international protection for Turkmen Community

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Turkmen Front called to ensure an international protection for the areas inhabited by the Turkmen Community in a number of provinces in Iraq.

The head of the Front, Arshad al-Salihi, stated to IraqiNews.com “We call to deploy international forces by the UN to protect the Turkmen who are subject to genocide due to foreign agenda.”

“The attack in Tuz Khurmatu on last Wednesday is a continuation for the crimes committed against the Turkmen to displace them from their areas for political aims,” he added.

“This call comes after we many times called the Federal Government to protect the Turkmen especially in the disputed areas but the deployment of the Federal Forces resulted in disputes with the Peshmerga so we call to protect the Turkmen by international forces,” he continued.

He ruled out “Turkmen’s call to split in an independent province.”

“The Turkmen Community is targeted,” he concluded.

Earlier, 87 civilians were killed and injured, on Wednesday, among them Salah il-Din Governor Undersecretary, Ahmed Abdul Wahid, and the Secretary General of the Turkmen Front, Ali Hashim, due to suicide bombing in Tuz Khurmatu district.

Security source told Iraqi News on Wednesday “A suicide bomber detonated himself amid mourning ceremony in Tuz Khurmatu of eastern Tikrit city resulted in killing (42) persons and injuring (45) others including Salah il-Din Governor Undersecretary and Secretary General of the Turkmen Front.”

“The ambulances rushed to the incident place and transported the wounded persons to a hospital while the dead bodies were sent to the morgue,” the source added.

“The security forces cordoned off the spot in anticipation of another terrorist attack,” the source concluded.
