Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Peshmerga Ministry within the Kurdistani Regional Government sent a peace plan to the Central Government through a US delegation to solve the disputes.

A statement by the Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “The Minister of Peshmerga, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, met the head of the US Cooperation Office in Iraq, General Martin, and the accompanied delegation that involved the US Consul in Erbil as well as advisors from the office.”

“During the meeting, they discussed the dialogues conducted between the Peshmerga Minister and the Ministry of Defense especially the proposal presented by Peshmerga to solve the crisis in the disputed areas,” the statement added.

“The US side thanked the Peshmerga Ministry for its efforts to solve the disputes hoping to reduce the tensions,” the statement continued.

“Peshmerga Minister announced during the meeting that the Peshmerga forces were deployed for defense aims without any intention to attack or to escalate the tensions,” the statement mentioned.

“He also criticized the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, assuring that Maliki wants to use the Iraqi Army in the political disputes which bring us back to the former regime that believes in monopolization,” the statement stressed.

“At the end of the meeting, the Minister handed over the peace plan to be sent through the US delegation to Central Government as a new attempt to settle the problems between the two sides,” the statement concluded.
