While receiving Kobler, Hakim calls to consolidate trust among political leaders
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed “The importance of adopting the dialogue to discuss the Iraqis’ demands and problems.”
A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com cited “Hakim received the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, at his office in Baghdad on Thursday,” noting that “Hakim called to consolidate the trust among the political leaders to avoid the escalation of the current crisis and to reach satisfactory solutions.”
“Hakim appreciated the role of the UN in relieving the crisis through its contacts with all the political sides,” the statement continued.
“For his part, Kobler confirmed conducting contacts and discussions by the UN with the various political sides in Iraq, calling to conduct fruitful dialogue and stressing respect for human rights and solving the crisis peacefully by responding to the legitimate demands,” the statement concluded.
