 UAE donates $10 million to support stability in Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – United Nations Special Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) announced on Tuesday, that the United Arab Emirates donated ten million dollars to the United Nations Development Program to help accelerate the stabilization of areas newly liberated from ISIS, while pointed out that the UAE recognizes the importance of achieving stability, peace and prosperity for the Iraqi people in general and those who were subjected to violence and terrorism in particular.

The mission said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “The UAE contribution will be allocated to UNDP’s Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization (FFIS), and will be used to rehabilitate civic infrastructure, including hospitals and schools,” pointing out that, “The project will also support community development initiatives.”

The UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “The UAE believes in the importance of bringing stabilization, peace and prosperity to the Iraqi people, especially those who have been affected by violence and terrorism,” adding that, “We look forward to work with UNDP and seeing improvements in the lives of Iraqi families returning to their liberated home areas.”
