(IraqiNews.com) Erbil – The Association of Hotels and Restaurants in Iraqi Kurdistan revealed on Saturday, that more than 130 tourist facilities were closed due to the financial crisis, while pointed out to the coordination with the concerned authorities to attract more tourists from the south and central areas.

The Vice Chairman of the association Shokr Aziz Sheikh said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “More than 130 tourist facilities were closed in Kurdistan region in the last period due to the financial crisis, as well as the notable retreat in hotels and restaurants sector.”

Sheikh added, “The war against ISIS and the financial crisis in the region negatively affected hotels and restaurants sector,” pointing out that, “We are currently coordinating with the government to attract more tourists from south and central Iraq to Kurdistan region.”
