Free Zones Dept signs contract to establish free zone in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The General Authority for Free Zones associated to the Ministry of Finance concluded an investment contract with Imar Company for General Contracting to establish a free zone specialized in practicing the commercial activity in Awirij district of Baghdad.

The Authority’s Director General, Sabah Salih al-Qaisi said “This investment contract is the first of its kind in Iraq which involves doing commercial acts according to the Free Zones Law No. 3 of 1998.”

Qaisi called “The relevant authorities to actively participate in supporting this project to expand this step and move it to all the Iraqi provinces.”

“The Authority was granted an official approval to open free zones for the Iraqi, Arab and foreign investors as a new step that helps upgrading the economic sector in Iraq,” he concluded.
