 International Monetary Fund agrees to lend Iraq $5.4 billion

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Thursday, Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari announced reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund to obtain a loan of 5.4 billion US dollars, while pointed out that the loan will secure additional financial assistance of about 15 billion US dollars over the next three years.

Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshiyar Zebari said during a press conference held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, followed by IraqiNews.com, “Iraq made an agreement to obtain a loan of 5.4 billion US dollars from the International Monetary Fund,” adding that, “The agreement will allow Iraq to secure additional financial aid of 15 billion US dollars over the next three years.”

Meanwhile, Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Alaq, said during the press conference, “The annual interest rate of the loan will be 1.5%.”
