Iraqi Government unable to control prices in case of applying canceling Ration Card, says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Noura al-Bajari, member of the Parliamentary Economy Committee revealed that the “Iraqi Government does not have any power to control the prices at the Iraqi markets,” noting that “the prices are controlled by the traders.”

Bajari told IraqiNews.com that “The Government’s allegations about its ability to control the prices of food materials is inaccurate words where it has no power on the prices and that the private sector and traders are the ones who control the markets and prices.”

“The Government does not have any procedure in this regard and cannot protect the citizens from the rise in prices especially in case of applying the decision of canceling the Ratio Card and replacing it with distributing financial grants,” he added.

It is worth to mention that the Spokesperson of the Government, Ali al-Dabbagh, has announced, on last Sunday, the Council of Ministers decided to reconsider the decision over canceling the Ration Card.

Whereas the Parliament decided during its regular session of last Monday to abolish the decision over canceling the Ration Card.
