 Zebari: World Bank lends Iraq $1.9 bln in 2015

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari said, that the World Bank loans that were provided to Iraq during the year 2015 reached one billion and 900 million dollars, while explained that these loans were distributed on gas, infrastructure and reconstruction projects in the liberated areas.

Zebari’s office said in a statement, “Today, the Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari received the World Bank representative in Iraq,” pointing out that, “The meeting discussed the mutual cooperation between the Iraqi government and the World Bank, as well as the special procedures of the loans provided by the World Bank to Iraq including the loan that will be provided for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the liberated areas.”

The statement added, “They also discussed providing assistance to the basic and dynamic sectors in order to achieve stability and ensure the return of displaced people to their homes,” indicating that, “The second loan will be used to finance the development policy and support the budget of 2016.”
