60,000 Iraqi police casualties since fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime says Deputy of Iraqi Interior Minister

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Monday, Deputy Minister of Interior Adnan al-Asadi stated that the casualties of the police force since the falling of Saddam Hussein’s regime have reached 60,000 elements.

In a press conference during the International General Conference of INTERPOL, al-Asadi said, “Iraq has been attacked by militant groups since the fall of the last regime. About 20,000 police elements were killed in terrorist attacks and violent clashes. More than 40,000 were injured or attained a disability that removed them out of the force”

He added, “INTERPOL must help in coordinating all efforts to help Iraq in the war against militant groups. It’s necessary to dry up the sources of terrorism abroad.”
