Conjoined twins separated successfully in a 7-hour syrgery in Saudi

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com)-Two conjoined twins born in Kirkuk to a Kurdish family and attached to each other in the abdomen underwent an intensive 7-hour procedure in Kingdom Saudi Arabia in order to be separated. The two babies, called Christ and Christian, were born into a Christian family on January 10, and their birth recorded one of the rarest cases in decades. Right after the news went viral, the Iraqi Ministry of Health called for sending the twins abroad to Saudi Arabia for treatment, since Saudi has facilities specialized to treating such cases, al-Sumaria reported. The staff that performed the procedure comprised doctors of 23 different expertise fields. After the surgery ended, Saudi`s health minister Dr. Abdullah al-Rubai`y confirmed that the two babies were in good conditions and the procedure has met its purpose. Since 1990, 31 similar procedures have been performed for conjoined twins in Saudi Arabia, 80 percent of which had ended successfully.
