(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Kurdistan Regional Parliament expressed on Wednesday its rejection for any attempt to divide Iraq, but considered the latter “basically divided” and the Kurds do not work to divide it more, while refused the statements made by the head of Parliamentary Commission on Security and Defense Hakim Zmili about Kurdistan being intimidated by Washington.

Media adviser to the presidency of the region’s parliament Tariq Jawhar said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “According to the Federal Constitution, Iraq is a federal state and there are formed areas and regions,” noting that, “The Congress project is not new, because Joe Biden has suggested the division of Iraq before on the basis of three regions, and there is no need to deal realistically with each project.”

Jawhar added that, “There are three components in the political process on the ground, and there is privacy for each area,” and continued, “We are not with the division of the country, but we are with dealing realistically with the fact that Iraq is basically divided.”
