Human Rights Ministry denies torturing Saudi prisoners in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights denied the reports published by one local news paper about the existence of torturing cases against Saudi prisoners in Iraq.

A statement by the ministry received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “MoHR denies the information about the existence of torturing cases against Saudis in Iraqi prisons,” noting that “The ministry did not record the existence of torture practiced against those prisoners according to the data base of the correction facilities.”

The statement added that “The ministry also, denies the information included in that news paper which indicates the injecting some Saudi jailed persons with poisons as a means for executing death sentences against them, describing this information as completely false and the death sentences have never been implemented by illegal means.”

The statement also mentioned that “There are ten Saudi persons jailed and sentenced with death sentences, among them two prisoners who have objected on their sentences.”
