Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Fouad Massoum stressed the importance of Iran’s role in the war against the organization of the Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant, pointing out that Iraq cannot effectively fight ISIS without Iran.

Massoum said in an interview, followed by IraqiNews.com that “despite the differences in views between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the attempt to hit the organization ISIS by all means without Iran would leave a significant gap in this area.”

He added that “Iran’s role in fighting the terrorist organization [ISIS] is essential. Iran’s role and presence cannot be ignored.”

The Iraqi president believed that “the fundamental difference between Iran and the United States is only the nuclear issue,” noting that “the American Secretary of State, John Kerry told us that they do not want to hit Iran and have no differences with them except the nuclear issue. If this issue is resolved, many things in the region will be addressed.”
