(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The International Committee of the Red Cross in Basra Province announced on Monday, that Iraq and Iran exchanged the remains of 94 soldiers who were killed during the war between the two countries that lasted for eight years, while pointed out that some of the remains belonged to unidentified soldiers.

The Head of the International Red Cross office in Basra Province, Haifa al-Saad, said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Today the remains of soldiers were exchanged between the Iraqi side and Iran through the Shalamcheh border port,” noting that, “Iraq handed the remains of 68 soldiers to the Iranian side.”

Saad added, “The remains that had been delivered to the Iranian authorities, included the remains of 13 soldiers found in Majnoon oil field, remains of 12 soldiers found in Zubeidat area in Maysan Province, as well as the remains of 43 soldiers found in Umm al-Rasas Island.”

“The Iranian side handed over 26 Iraqi remains to the Iraqi authorities,” the statement continued.
