Iraq extracts remains of 529 soldiers from Iran-Iraq War

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights announced that, the digging operations in Babel had finished, and that it extracted so far 529 remains of dead soldiers from the Iran-Iraq War.

The ministry said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews, “The digging operations which took place at al-Faw and al-Mamlaha areas in Babel province has finally come to an end. In the final operation, 61 remains of killed soldiers were extracted. Thirty two of those remains belonged to Iraqi soldiers including only one which has been identified. The remains which belong to the Iranian side is only ” The statement added, “In al-Bisan province, 450 remains belonged to Iraqi soldiers and 53 remains of Iranian soldiers have been also extracted from different areas in the province.”

Noteworthy, the Iraqi government is cooperating with Iranian officials to manage the digging operations in a scientific and technological way in order to extract the remains of the dead soldiers from both sides within the Iraqi territories.
