(IraqiNews.com) The spokesman for Prime Minister’s Office Rafid Jabouri announced on Saturday, that Iraq has requested air support from the US-led international coalition in the battle of Tikrit, indicating that the request came in accordance with the requirements of the war determined by the military commanders, while pointed out that the government wants to maintain the Volunteer Fighters as a full institution.

Jabouri said in press statements, “The process of requesting air support comes from field commanders and also taking into account the strategic interests of Iraq,” noting that, “Each battle has its privacy, and in the beginning of Tikrit battle, there wascno need for air support and now the air support is imperative, because Iraq is locked in a fierce war that has to be won.”
