Kurds thank Iraq Federal government, Turkey and America for their support

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) On Friday, Chief of Staff to the President of Iraqi Kurdistan, Dr. Fuad Hussein, thanked the Iraqi federal government, Turkey and America on the assistance provided against the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, emphasizing that ISIL focuses its attack on Erbil.

Hussein said, in a joint press conference in Erbil, with Iraq Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari and attended by IraqiNews.com, that “The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant began asking for help from its followers who are in Syria due to the effects of American air strikes”, noting that “ISIL’s strategy broke.” Hussein added that Kurdish “Peshmerga forces are currently battling ISIL but there is a disparity in weapons used,” explaining that “ISIL used tanks and artillery, which it acquired from Iraqi forces.”

Hussein said “the Kurdistan Regional Government thanks the Iraqi government, Turkey and the United States for their assistance and support of Kurdish forces against ISIL,” pointing out that “the terrorist organizations are focusing their attack fronts on Erbil”

Hussein added that “Peshmerga forces have fought battles with ISIL since the early days when they first came to Nineveh Province,” explaining that “ISIL focuses its attacks on the Sinjar district using some of its forces from Syria.”
