(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, Vice President Nouri al-Maliki underlined the necessity of activating the strategic framework agreement between Iraq and the United States, and pointed to the importance of increasing US support for Iraq, while US Secretary of State assistant Brett Mcgurk pointed to his country’s desire to continue to support Iraq.

Maliki’s office said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Vice President Nuri al-Maliki received today US Secretary of State assistant Brett Mcgurk and the US ambassador to Iraq Stuart Jones,” and added, “They discussed the developments in the political and security situation and military developments in the war against ISIS.”

Maliki underlined the need to activate the strategic framework agreement between Iraq and the United States, and increase the US support for Iraq‒ especially in the field of cooperation and coordination in the fight against terrorism, praising the triumphs of the security forces and elements of al-Hashd al-Sha’bi in Salahuddin.
