Mass exodus as clashes intensify in al-Hawija

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) On Monday, a security source in Salahuddin province said, that hundreds of residents of al-Hawija area have crossed the Tigris River in a mass exodus, fleeing from the violent clashes in al-Daluiyah district.

The source informed IraqiNews, “Hundreds of residents of al-Hawija have left their homes due to the violent clashes between the government forces and the ISIS group militants. They have crossed the Tigris River in an attempt to find safer areas as military operations intensify in the district of al-Daluiyah.”

“The ISIS group has detained a number of residents and prevented them from leaving,” the source added.

Earlier today, the head of Daluiyah Police Department, Qandil al-Jobouri, said that The security forces liberated two villages in the areas of Albu Ayfan and al-Hawija in the district of al-Daluiyah.
