Maysan environment directorate warns from drifted mines

Maysan, Amara (IraqiNews.com) The Environment Department of Maysan provinces warned the people, who live in the border areas between Iraq and Iran, from the danger of the unexploded mines that were drifted due to rainfall.The Director of Maysan Environment Department, Samir al-Abood, stated to IraqiNews.com ”The amount of the rain drifted the mines and the war projectiles which were at the border areas of the province with Iran and pushed it towards the villages and the districts nearby border areas.””The rainfall contributed in declining the contamination rate,” he added, noting that “Studies assured that Maysan need (150) years to eliminate the influences of war remains, but the rainfall shortened the time and revitalized the soil by washing many contaminants away.” \
