MoC official, UN delegation discuss returning Iraqi documents

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Culture Undersecretary, Taher Naser al-Hamud, met the assistant of the envoy of the UN general secretary, Georgi Boston, and a delegation of the UN development program.

The Office of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture mentioned in statement received by IraqiNews.com that ”During the meeting, the two sides discussed the aspects of cooperation and the coordination between the UN and Iraq to promote the culture work in Iraq,” noting that ”The Cultural Advisor of the Ministry of Culture attended the meeting.”

The statement added that ”The development of the culture performance is the basic condition in any development process,” pointing out that ”Iraq expects more participation from the UN in developing the Iraqi capabilities which remained isolated and undeveloped in the previous regime.”

The statement pointed out that ”Both sides agreed that many items require highly coordination with the UN, particularly, in restoring the documents which were stolen from Iraq during the process of toppling the former regime.”

According to the statement ”Hamud mentioned that we hope it will be an opportunity to cooperate with UN to succeed the program of (Baghdad, the capital of the Arab culture),” stressing that ”Iraq relies too much on this cultural event that will be more like a summit for Arab cultur.” \
