 Not finding “matchstick” saves  woman from suicide attempt in Baquba

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – A local source in Diyala province announced on Wednesday, that a  woman failed to commit suicide because of the failure to find a matchstick at her house near Baquba.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “A woman in the fourth decade of her life tried to commit suicide by pouring about 20 liters of gasoline over her body at her house near Baquba, because of altercation with her husband, who got married yesterday without her knowledge.”

The source, who asked not to be named, said: “the women locked herself in the kitchen room after pouring gasoline, but she did not find a matchstick for the purpose of igniting herself in order to commit suicide,” adding that “her husband broke the door and found her in a collapsed psychological state.”
