Number of ISIS elements in Nineveh less than 5,000, says Osama Najafi

 

(IraqiNews.com) The Deputy President of the Republic Osama Najafi announced Wednesday, that the number of ISIS elements in Nineveh province doesn’t exceed 5,000 elements, while pointed out that only 3% of the province’s residents joined the terrorist group’s ranks, confirming that six parties will participate in the military operation to liberate the province.

Nujaifi said in press statements, “The forces that will participate in the operation to liberate Nineveh are the Iraqi army forces (military teams have been prepared specifically for this task), forces of the federal police, local police forces (15,000 elements), the national Volunteer Fighters forces, the Kurdish Peshmerga and the international coalition.”

Najafi added, “The Council of Nineveh issued a decision not to accept any forces coming from outside the province to participate in the operation.”
