President Masum demands to declare Basra Iraq’s economic capital

 

(IraqiNews.com) On Monday, president Fuad Masum underlined the need to declare Basra the economic capital of Iraq.

Masum said in a press conference today in the province of Basra, attended by IraqiNews.com, “Basra, with its oil and gas, is an encourage destination for investors go to,” and urged to take action “in order to make Basra the economic capital of Iraq.”

Masum added,”This has always been a hot topic in the media and the political meetings,” pointing to “the need to take practical steps to declare Basra Iraq’s economic capital.”

The Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Ministry of Oil, announced on October 20, 2014 it had been working to make Basra the economic capital of the country.
