(IraqiNews.com) Reconstruction of the ruined areas in al-Anbar province because of the fighting, has been estimated to cost more than 11 billion dollars, a member of Anbar Provincial Council told Asharq Al-Awsat Tuesday.

The member of Anbar Provincial Council, Arkan al-Tarmouz, said ISIS gained control over 85 percent of al-Anbar, adding that the fighting between ISIS and government forces had destroyed large expanses of lands in the province.

“More than 38,000 homes have been destroyed in provincial capital Ramadi alone. Over 60 bridges have been destroyed in the province, and initial estimates indicate that 40 percent of Anbar’s cities have been destroyed including major infrastructure and residential areas,” Tarmouz told Asharq al-Awsat.
