(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi stressed on Monday, that Iraq is facing a fierce battle against ISIS and needs an international effort to get rid of the organization, while the Russian ambassador to Iraq, Ilya Murgunov, handed Abadi a written message from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Information Office of Abadi said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi met with the Russian ambassador to Baghdad Ilya Murgunov.”

The statement added that “the Russian ambassador handed over a written message from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Abadi,” confirming “Russia’s desire to develop bilateral relations with Iraq in various fields, especially the armament side and the exchange of information to confront ISIS terrorist gangs.”

Abadi stressed, according to the statement, that “Iraq today is facing a fierce war against ISIS and needs international effort to get rid of these gangs.”
