Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The second AFC Asian Cup semi-final in Newcastle will feature a maiden competitive fixture between Australia and the UAE.

Goals should be expected, with Australia having netted the most in the tournament with 10, whilst the UAE boast the competition’s leading goal scorer in Ali Mabkout, who has found the net four times.

The UAE have been defensively stout throughout the tournament, conceding only four goals, despite seeing their opponents amass 75 attempts on goal.

Australia have reached the semi-finals of the AFC Asian Cup for the second successive tournament, in only their third appearance.

United Arab Emirates have reached their third such semi-final, and first since 1996, when they finished as runners-up.

This will be the first competitive meeting between these sides.

The hosts have scored more goals than any other nation in the competition so far (10).

However, no player has scored more goals than United Arab Emirates’ Ali Mabkhout (4).

Both of these sides finished as runners-up in their group, winning two and losing one of their three games.

United Arab Emirates have won only two of their last seven AFC Asian Cup games (D2 L3), however in their most recent draw they eliminated holders Japan on penalties.

No side has had more shots on target than Australia (32) – over twice as many as United Arab Emirates (13).

United Arab Emirates have conceded just four goals in four games so far, despite having faced more shots than any other side in the competition (75, including blocked shots). /End/
