(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, PM Haider al-Abadi said that “some individuals” were trying to make a fuss about compulsory savings and the distribution of salaries every 40 days, indicating that the oil prices and the decline in imports are “out of our control.”

Abadi said in a statement issued by his office and received by IraqiNews, “Compulsory savings is existent in the budget but we have not worked on it yet,” noting that, “Compulsory savings and the distribution of salaries every 40 days were some of the options available in case of non-coverage of revenue for salaries, and because we cannot pay only some employees and ignore the rest.”

Abadi added, “The oil prices drop and the decline in imports are out of our control, but we will overcome the crisis,” pointing out that “Military spending consumes a large portion of our budget.”
