More than 2,000 fighters of Diyala will take part in battle of Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) The security committee in the Diyala provincial council confirmed Saturday that more than 2,000 volunteer fighters from the people of the province will participate in the battle to liberate Tikrit.

Committee chairman Sadiq al-Husseini said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “More than 2,000 volunteer fighters from Diyala people will participate in the battle to liberate Tikrit from ISIS control.”

Husseini added, “The liberation of Tikrit has a strategic importance to Diyala, because of the long common borders that have been exploited by ISIS to attack some areas, like al-Adim district (75 km north of Baquba), during the last few weeks.”
