 25 people Killed, wounded in double bombing in Sadr City

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday, that 25 people had been either killed or wounded in a double bombing in Sadr City in eastern Baghdad.

The source said in a breif statement received by IraqiNews.com, “This afternoon, a bomb exploded in Maridi market in Sadr City in eastern Baghdad,” noting that, “Another explosion occurred in the same place, and it was carried out by a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added, “The two explosions resulted in the killing of six people and wounding of 19 others.”

The source also pointed out, “A force rushed to the area and transferred the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead bodies to the forensic medicine department, while imposed a security cordon on the area and prevented approaching it.”
