 5 Iraqi border guards killed in explosion near Trebil

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – According to a security source in Anbar province, five officers of the Border Guard Command in the Second Region were killed in the explosion of an improvised explosive device near Trebil border with Jordan.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “On  Saturday, an explosive device that was planted on the side of the road near Trebil border with Jordan exploded at noon, while a convoy of border guards were passing, resulting in the killing of five officers.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added: “Among the dead were a captain, first lieutenant, and three lieutenants.”

Noteworthy, Trebil is the most vital border crossing point used by Iraq for receiving goods coming from the Jordanian port of Aqaba.
