60 Germans died fighting with ISIS, says head of German intelligence

(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, German BfV Intelligence said some 60 German citizens died fighting for ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and some have returned from armed conflict zones in the Middle East.

In an interview by the German weekly Welt am Sonntag, the head of German BfV intelligence, Hans Georg Maassen said at least 60 Germans have died fighting alongside ISIS with at least 9 being killed in suicide attacks, and about 180 German fighters believed to have returned home, posing danger for attacks in Germany.

“The situation is worrying, but we don’t have be scared. We should prepare ourselves for the fact that attacks could also happen here, even if we, of course, will do everything to prevent them” he said.

“We just have to know; there is a potential danger” he added.
