(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A police source announced on Tuesday, that a civilian was killed and seven others were wounded in a bomb blast north of the capital Baghdad.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “an explosive device that was planted on the side of the road in al-Hamamiyat area in Taji district south of Baghdad exploded at noon, today, killing one civilian and wounding seven others, as well as causing material damage to the shops.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added: “security forces cordoned off the scene of the blast and prevented approaching it in anticipation of further explosions, while ambulances transported the injured to a nearby hospital and the body of the dead to the forensic medicine department.”
