Nineveh – (IraqiNews.com) Al-Hashd al-Shaabi Command decided on Monday to rename Tel Afar Airport in Nineveh province after the name of Martyr Jassim Shabir, and pointed out that the victory will be soon achieved in the district.

Leader at al-Hashd al-Shaabi, Ahmed al-Asadi, said in a press statement, “Al-Hashd al-Shaabi Command renamed Tel Afar Airport after the martyr Jassim Shabir, member of central Shura of Kata’ib Jund al-Imam, to praise his significant efforts in the liberation operations of important cities and areas, especially Tel Afar Airport.”

“The operations are ongoing until liberating the last piece of our land,” Asadi added. “The courage of al-Hashd al-Shaabi in Mosul offensive weakened the strength of ISIS militants,” Asadi explained.

Asadi also revealed that security forces will soon achieve the complete victory in the district of Tel Afar.

Last Friday, Shabir was killed by a sniper fire from outside Tel Afar Airport, west of Mosul.
