(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Monday the Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ruled out sending US ground troops to Syria, attributing this to the fear of new “Vietnam.”

Sadr said in response to a question about the intention of the United States to send its own troops to Syria, specifically in areas where Syrian Kurds exist in order to fight ISIS: “according to the current political rules, America will not deploy its ground troops in Syria for fear of a new Vietnam.”

Noteworthy, US official previously announced the determination of the United States to send between 20 and 30 military advisers to Syria to help in fighting ISIS.
