Armed clashes erupt near police checkpoint in Tikrit

Salah-il-Din, Tikrit (IraqiNews.com) Seven policemen and gunmen were killed and wounded in an armed clashes to the north of Tikrit city.A source of Salah-il-Din Police Department reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The armed clashes erupted between the policemen and gunmen in Zaytona area of northern Beji district of northern Tikrit city.””The armed clashes resulted in killing a policeman and wounding three others while two gunmen were killed and a gunman wounded,” the source added.”The security forces rushed to the incident scene transporting the dead bodies to the morgue and the wounded policemen to the hospital while the wounded gunman was kept under custody for investigation,” the source concluded.
