(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – on Monday, the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott offered to send more troops to Iraq, after the fall of the city of Ramadi at the hands of ISIS.

The American site ABC News quoted Abbott as saying, “The serious setbacks in Ramadi confirmed the seriousness of the task and Australia is ready to be a reliable partner of the United States.”

Abbott did not rule out “strengthening Australia’s military contribution in Iraq if the United States chose to increase its military commitment,” adding, “We are ready to work with our partners and allies in the United States and with the Iraqis to provide assistance.

According to the US site, 600 members of the Australian armed forces took part in the fight against ISIS, as well as the presence of 300 troops in Taji camp; they provide assistance in the training of Iraqi forces.”
