Baiji is under great attack by ISIS, government must intervene immediately, says Salahuddin governor

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, the Governor of Salahuddin, Raed al-Jubouri stated that Baiji is under attack by the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), urging the government to intervene immediately.

Jubouri said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Baiji district (40 km north of Tikrit City) is exposed to a great attack by ISIS terrorist gangs.”

Jubouri urged the central government to intervene immediately to support the stationed security forces in the district.

Yesterday evening, the security forces managed to regain control over the main street in the center of Baiji, after the deaths of more than ten ISIS members in clashes between the two sides, while military armored reinforcements arrived to the district as a prelude to fully purge it of the terrorist organization elements.
