Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Chairman of the security committee in Diyala Council Sadiq al-Husseini announced on Tuesday, foiling an ISIS attack in Mount Hamrin in Salahuddin province, stressing that the terrorist group has suffered great losses in lives and equipment.

Husseini said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The security forces of Diyala police and the 5th Division backed by al-Hashd al-Sha’bi militia foiled the biggest ISIS attack in Mount Hamrin mountain in Salahuddin,” noting that, “The group had intended to sneak towards the liberated areas and strike security post.”

Husseini added, “The fierce clashes between the joint forces and the ISIS elements resulted in killing dozens of the latter, in addition to destroying 17 vehicles carrying weapons, explosives and munitions.”
