(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – On Sunday, a source in Salahuddin Province said, that an element of the joint security forces that were advancing toward the areas of al-Sharqat north of Salahuddin and al-Qayyarah south of Mosul was killed in a bomb blast in northern Tikrit.

According to information shared by the source, and followed by Iraqi News, it was stated, “An improvised explosive device that was emplaced by ISIS exploded, at noon today, targeting the joint security forces that are advancing toward the areas of al-Sharqat north of Salahuddin and al-Qayyarah south of Mosul, near a fertilizers plant in northern Baiji, killing a member of the Federal Police.”

“A security force evacuated the dead body. The bad weather [in the area] and the large number of improvised explosive devices has hindered the advance of the security forces,” the information added.
