(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi police announced Thursday, that a volunteer soldier has been killed and seven others were wounded in a bomb blast south of Baghdad.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “An explosive device that was emplaced on the side of the road has went off targeting a security patrol belonging to al-Hashed al-Sha’bi forces in the area of Arab Jabour in south of Baghdad,” noting that, “The explosion resulted in killing an element of the patrol and injuring seven others.”

The source added, “Security force cordoned off the area, while ambulances transferred the wounded to a hospital for medical treatment and the dead to the forensic medicine department.”
