Football player assassinated in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The former football player of Talaba Football Club and current player of Khalidoun FC, Abbas Jaafar, also a brother of the former Iraqi Football Star, Habib Jaafar, has been assassinated to the western of the Iraqi Capital Baghdad

Security source reported to IraqiNews.com “Unidentified gunmen travelling by a motorbike opened fire targeting the former Talaba FC’s player Abbas Jaafar in Habibiya area of eastern Baghdad,” noting that “Jaafar has died immediately due to the attack.”

“Security forces rushed to the attack scene but the gunmen managed to escape to unknown destination,” the source added, stressing that “Police forces transported Jaafar’s body to the morgue.”

It is worth to mention that “Abbas Jaafar has played for Talaba FC, Jawaiya FC, and other Iraqi Clubs.
