Our forces arrived in Tikrit center, liberated southern and western sides, says Abadi

 

(IraqiNews.com) Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Tuesday the arrival of the security forces to Tikrit city center, and the liberation of the southern and western sides of the city by air cover and shelling by the Iraqi Air Force and US-led international coalition warplanes.

Abadi said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Our security forces arrived in Tikrit center and freed the southern and western sides. Moreover, they are moving to gain control of the entire city,” noting that, “The military operation of liberating Tikrit is conducted by joint efforts of the army, the police, the Volunteer Fighters, tribal fighters and the people of Tikrit.”

Abadi added, “The operation was conducted by air cover and bombing the center by the Iraqi Air Force, Army Aviation and the international coalition aircrafts,” praising the “Iraqi pilots courage.”

Al-Abadi continued, “The successful experience of Tikrit will be repeated in other areas because of its positive field results at the humanitarian level and the protection of civilians to the fullest extent.”
