(IraqiNews.com) In an interview with German newspaper Sodoichi Zeitung published on Thursday, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda confirmed that she is looking into starting prosecutions against the ISIS fighters.

In response to a question about what the International Criminal Court could do in Syria, she said, “As for the ISIS organization, we are looking for a way to start prosecutions.”

Bensouda said, “There is important and numerous information that the ranks of ISIS include foreigners from countries that have signed an agreement with the International Criminal Court; such as Jordan and Tunisia, as well as European countries,” adding, “We can prosecute those suspected with war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

By the end of last September, the number of European nationals who joined the ISIS ranks in Iraq and Syria reached 3000, according to the EU Counter-terrorism Coordinator, Gilles de Kerchove.
