(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The US military said that Iraqi forces crossed the halfway in a complex operation to surround ISIS militants in Ramadi, indicating that the forces have carried out arduous acts to encircle the city, while confirmed that the militants are trying to slow down the progress of the Iraqi forces by roadside bombs, car bombs and suicide bombers.

The spokesman for the US Central Command, Colonel in the Air Force Pat Ryder said in an interview quoted by the “Sky News” and followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Iraqi forces are making progress in the fourth week of its efforts to isolate ISIS fighters, who seized Ramadi. They crossed the halfway in the encirclement process,” explaining that, “the goal is to cut off ISIS communication lines.”

Ryder added that “Iraqi forces carried out arduous acts to encircle the city and then prevent ISIS from bringing more troops or supplies,” stating that, “the militants are trying to slow or stop the Iraqi forces by roadside bombs and homemade explosives; the Iraqis used armored bulldozers and other specialized equipment to remove the explosives.”
